What is Google Chrome?
Google Chrome is a modern browser that is used by many. It was developed by Google as a rival to Internet explorer and was then ported to Android, iOS, and Linux. The browser is open source under the chromium project and is now the leading browser within May 2020, StatCounter and NetMarketShare predict that Chrome has a global browser market share of 68 percent (after peaking at 72.38 percent in November 2018) on personal computers.
Chrome has now branched out to several other products: Chrome OS, Chromecast, Chromebook, Chromebit, Chromebox, and Chromebase. The Chrome browser serves as an important Chrome OS, where it serves as the platform for web apps.
Chrome has impeccable security than any other browser thanks to its usage of Sandbox Tabs and the requirement of Windows Password to see any saved passwords on the browser. The browser has an inbuilt password leak checker which warns you if your password has been leaked to the public.
The browser is much more stable than its competitors but it consumes more RAM than the rest. Some experimental features can be accessed by about: flags in the browser like early dark mode in Android etc.
One can also set themes as they like using the theme store. The user can add any image to their new tab section.
Google Chrome is the foundation for Google’s Chrome OS operating system which ships from Google’s manufacturing partners on specific hardware. The user interface has a minimalist style that resembles Google’s browser Chrome. Chrome OS targets users who spend much of their computing time on the Web; the only applications on the devices are a browser that integrates a media player and a file manager.
Startup page of Google Chrome:
The Startup page of the Google Chrome tab shows your recently closed websites, your latest Chrome applications, or the websites you visited most. You can delete a single page from the Start page of the tab, or you can fully disable the feature and allow a traditional single-site homepage. The next most visited page takes its place when you delete a single page.
Changing the Startup Page of Google Chrome:
When you press the Home button in Google Chrome, changing the Chrome homepage opens up a different page. The Home button resembles a house and is located next to the refresh button in the top-left corner of the browser window.
The default homepage is usually the New Tab page which gives you fast access to websites recently visited and a Google search bar. Although some users will find this page useful, you may want to choose another similar URL as your homepage.
How to Change the Home Page in Google Chrome for Android:
Step One: Tap Open the Chrome app.
Step Two: Select the “Menu” The icon is located at the upper-right corner.
Step Three: Tap on “Settings“.
Step Four: Tap on the “Home page” option on the page.
Step Five: Make sure that Home page is turned “On“. Tap “Open this page“, then type the URL you would like to set as your home page.
Change Home page of Google Chrome in Windows:
Step One: Click on Chrome and select the menu button located in the top-right corner of the window. It looks like three dots.
Step Two: Click on Settings from the drop-down menu.
Step Three: In the Search settings box at the top of the screen, type home. This will automatically find the place to change the home page.
Step Four: Under Show home button, Check if the Home button is enabled i.e turned on.
Step Five: Select the options beside Enter custom web addresses and type a URL for example, https://google.co.in into the text box so that Chrome will open the web page of your choice when you press the Home button.
Step Six: You can normally continue using Chrome after you update your homepage because changes are saved automatically.
How to Change Which Pages Open When Chrome Starts
Step One: Open the Chrome Settings menu.
Step Two: Type “start-up” in the Search settings field. This will automatically send you to the start-up section.
Step Three: Select open a specific page or set of pages.
Step Four: Select add a new page.
Step Five: Enter the URL you want to appear when you open Chrome and select Add. You can also add additional pages if you desire.
How to Change the Home page in iOS:
Users don’t have the option to set up a custom homepage for iOS on the Chrome app, but they can pick from four search engines that will appear as soon as the app is launched: Google, Yahoo!, DuckDuckGo and Bing.
To change the homepage on Chrome for iOS with one of the above-mentioned search engines, launch Chrome, and follow the steps as given.
Step One: Tap on the three horizontal dot menu icon at the bottom-right of the display.
Step Two: Then tap on Settings from the menu.
Step Three: On the next page, tap on Search Engine and then choose one of the four search engines
